Masterplan Adventure invite you to an orienteering adventure along the North West coast of Scotland.

Travelling through one of the wildest and most beautiful parts of Europe you’ll orienteer on areas never used for orienteering before. To get a flavour of the landscape checkout the video below.

Taking place before the Scottish 6 Days located around Lochaber, it provides the perfect opportunity to train before the big competition but with plenty of time left to experience what the NW coast and islands have to offer.

You’ll begin in Ullapool, which at 1500 residents is one of the largest towns in this remote part of Scotland! Then you’ll move southwards through Gairloch, Torridon and finishing near (in Highland travel terms) to the Scottish 6 Days event centre in Fort William.

We’re still finalising the areas you’ll run on but we’re sure they won’t disappoint! You’ll be running through forests, on open hills and through towns. There’ll be at least 5 races, maybe more depending on the length of the races. We’ll provide 3 courses: long technical, short technical and an easy option.

The orienteering will mostly take place in the morning or the evening, to allow you to make the most of exploring this amazing part of the world!

One of the reasons so little orienteering has taken place along the NW coast and islands is just how inaccessible it is for large events. We therefore have to make several compromises to be able to efficiently organise the events and to cover all the costs like new maps:

1. We are limiting the event at 100 people
2. You’ll have to enter all the events
3. A higher than normal entry fee – adults £120 and juniors/students £60 for the week (£100/£50 if you enter early)
4. The organisation will be low key

FAQ

How could Covid Restrictions impact on the event?

Hopefully restrictions are a thing of the past by next summer. But in case they’re not…
1. The event could be run under current Scottish Government rules (the good thing about a small limited number of entries).
2. If we have to cancel because of Covid restrictions we will rearrange the event in the future.

Where would I book accommodation?

This is a moving event so we would recommend changing accommodation during the week. We aim to group the events so you can spend 2 nights at each place you stay. We will provide more info when entries open.
